Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the shooting of five humanitarian aid workers by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in a viral video, describing the reason given for their execution as baseless.
In a Twitter post on Wednesday night, Omokri who described the video as “the most heart-wrenching” thing he has seen in the year, lamented that “the men were not spreading Christianity. They were providing humanitarian aid”.
“Five men, with their faces covered, stood behind the abductees and shot them after making comments. The most heart-wrenching thing I have seen this year is the video of Boko Haram terrorists shooting 5 aid workers in cold blood,” he noted.
“And the excuse they gave was baseless. The men were not spreading Christianity. They were providing humanitarian aid. Why? Why? SomeoneRescueNigeria!”
MERIDIAN SPY reported earlier the President, Muhammadu Buhari sympathised with the families of the slain aid workers while praying for God’s comfort on them for their irreplaceable loss.
He also condoled with the State Emergency Management Agency, Action Against Hunger, Rich International, and International Rescue Committee, whose staff were executed by the insurgents.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu on Wednesday, the President assured that the government would continue to do all it could to ensure that “every remaining vestige of Boko Haram is wiped out completely from the North East.
He assured them that security agencies in the state would work closely with their organisations to implement measures to ensure that no such kidnapping of staff occurs again.
