President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his dismay over the performance of his security chiefs in tackling the rising level of insecurity in the country.
Speaking to State House correspondents on Thursday after a security briefing, the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd.) disclosed that the president was unhappy with the current state of security in the country.
According to Munguno, the President admitted that although the nation’s service chiefs are trying to tackle the security challenges being experienced across the country, but stated that their best isn’t good enough.
Buhari also expressed worry over the lack of synergy amongst security forces and charged the various aspects of the security architecture to work together to solve the nation’s security challenges.
The meeting is coming after worsening security situations in the country, especially in the North, have sparked widespread outrage, leading to several protests in some parts of the North, including the President’s homes state, Katsina.
The calls have largely been that Buhari should do more than merely condemning the many attacks by the insurgents and criminal bandits wrecking havoc in communities in the region.
