Abia North Senate Representatives, Orji Uzor Kalu has been released from Kuje Correctional Service in Abuja.
This comes after a Federal High Court in Lagos State ordered his release on Tuesday.
MERIDIAN SPY gathered Kalu was released at about 8pm, on Wednesday evening.
A source close to him told Sahara Reporters, he was now in his Abuja residence, off Queen Amina Street, within the perimeter of Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
The former Abia governor was jailed for 12 years on December 5, 2019, after he was convicted of N7.1 billion fraud alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited, and a former Director of Finance at the Abia State Government House, Jones Udeogu.
He had filed an application on Tuesday May 12, asking the court to order his release from the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service NCS, Kuje, Abuja, following the nullification of conviction of his co-defendant by the supreme court.
Justice Mohammed Liman of the Lagos Federal High Court however granted his appeal for release.
