Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his wife, Joke, have tested negative for coronavirus.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi made the disclosure on Friday.
In a post on his official twitter handle, Abayomi commended Lagosians for their support and appealed to them to continue to maintain social distancing to curb the spread of the pandemic.
He also revealed beside the governor and his wife, his immediate family members and aides also tested negative for the disease.
The tweet reads: “I am happy to announce that #COVID19Lagos Incident Commander, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu @jidesanwoolu, the first Lady of Lagos @jokesanwoolu and their immediate family members as well as aides have all tested negative to #COVID19 @NCDCgov @MBuhari @Chikwe_I. We thank Lagos residents for their concern and support.”
The health commissioner therefore urge the people to maintain social distancing. “Together we can defeat #COVID19! Please stay safe #ForGreaterLagos.” He added.
Nigeria has recorded a total of 190 cases of COVID-19, 20 recoveries and two deaths. Lagos however has recorded 98 cases of COVID-19.
