The Nigerian government has said its strategy of imposing a partial lockdown has greatly helped reduce the number of coronavirus cases and limit the spread of the pandemic in the country.
Speaking on Channels TV programme, Sunday Politics on Sunday, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force PTF on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu said the number of confirmed cases of the novel COVID-19 would have been significantly higher without the lockdown order.
“Some of the modeling studies we have done show that if we hadn’t put through the lockdown, we probably would have had much higher numbers.
“Certainly, if you look at Europe and North America, the numbers doubles every three to four days and this is not what is happening in Nigeria.
“So, to a certain extent, we are doing something right in this country. The numbers remain relatively low compared to the trend in other countries.” Aliyu stated.
As at 09:10 pm 12th April there are 323 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 85 have been discharged with 10 deaths, according to records made available by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC.
