A police inspector has been arrested in Abuja for attempting to transport a parcel containing live ammunition through the Nyanya Motor Park.

Security sources revealed that around 3:15 p.m. on April 19, officers working with members of the Keffi Motor Park Union became suspicious of a package intended for delivery to Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

A search of the parcel uncovered an AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.

The suspect, according to Zagazola, identified as Inspector Kasimu Usman, serves with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command. He was promptly arrested and taken into custody.

During interrogation, Usman confessed that the package was meant for another police officer, Inspector Haruna Mohammed, attached to the 58 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Nasarawa State.

Inspector Usman remains in custody as investigations continue into the unauthorized movement of military-grade ammunition.
