Police Foil Robbery Attack in Abuja, Navy Suspects
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command foiled an armed robbery attempt at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II, arresting two suspects and recovering a cache of stolen items.
The arrest, made on March 27, 2025, followed a swift response by operatives of the Mabushi Division to a distress call at around 3:20 a.m.
According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on Sunday, the suspects—identified as Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa, both residents of Tipper Garage, Jahi—engaged the officers in a fierce gun battle upon their arrival.
“The Police operatives were engaged in a gun duel by the hoodlums. However, the suspects were overpowered by the superior firepower of the Police and attempted to flee with gunshot injuries,” she said.
A high-stakes pursuit ensued, culminating in the successful arrest of the two suspects. Recovered from the scene were two locally made firearms and a trove of suspected stolen property, including three vehicles—a Black Toyota Matrix (Reg. No. NBS 348 CP), a Black Toyota Venza (Reg. No. ABJ 105 AV), and a Grey Lexus IS350 (Reg. No. RSH 295 CB).
The operatives also retrieved several valuable electronic devices from the suspects. Items listed include two MacBook Pro laptops, a Lenovo laptop, an iPad, a PS4 gaming console, a Canon IP1224 camera, and a drone camera. These are believed to have been looted from previous robbery operations across the city.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, praised the swift response and professionalism of the Mabushi Division.
He also used the opportunity to advise residents on taking precautionary measures. “I urge residents to take proactive security steps, particularly by installing tracking devices in their vehicles. This significantly enhances recovery efforts in the unfortunate event of theft or robbery,” he advised.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations. The CP reaffirmed the command’s resolve to rid the city of criminal elements and ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens.
The Police Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities. “The FCT Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents,” SP Adeh emphasized, providing emergency contact numbers: 08032003913, 08033111911, or 07057321547.
