Four kidnapped victims, rescued by troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have recounted their ordeal and thanked the military for their bravery.
The victims were kidnapped in Kallong village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, but were rescued on April 3, 2025, after the troops responded swiftly to credible intelligence.
A statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, said
kidnappers fled, abandoning their victims, when the troops arrived at the scene.
He said the victims were successfully rescued and have since been reunited with their families.
According to one of the victims, “We were kidnapped by unknown gunmen, but thanks to the quick response of the 6 Brigade troops, we were rescued.”
The Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, commended the gallant troops for their swift and professional conduct.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to securing all communities within its area of responsibility and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.

According to Oni, “The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property, and calls on all peace-loving citizens to continue supporting the efforts of the military in restoring lasting peace to Taraba State.”
