The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a consignment of cocaine ingeniously concealed within prayer beads and locally made shoes.
The illicit substances were discovered during an operation targeting individuals attempting to smuggle drugs to the Holy Land. The agency’s operatives successfully prevented the traffickers from carrying out their mission, reinforcing NDLEA’s commitment to curbing drug-related crimes.
Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, shared images of the intercepted contraband on X.com on Sunday. In his statement, he condemned the act, emphasizing how traffickers were using religious artifacts in an attempt to evade detection.
“In this holy month, when people are engaged in spiritual devotion, some individuals chose to desecrate sacred items by concealing cocaine in prayer beads and locally made shoes,” Babafemi stated. “Thankfully, our officers thwarted their plans, as shown in the attached pictures.”
