WAHALA: Lagos Police Nabs Two Pakistanis for Kidnapping
The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled a notorious kidnapping ring operated by Pakistani nationals, arresting two key suspects while launching a manhunt for their fleeing accomplices.
The arrested suspects, identified as 19-year-old Roman Gull and 28-year-old Adrian Ahmad, were apprehended on Wednesday after police received intelligence about the abduction of a 48-year-old Pakistani man in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to police investigations, the victim was lured from Kano to Lagos under the pretense of securing a job as a chef. Gull and Ahmad not only arranged his flight but also booked a hotel for his stay. However, their true intent was revealed on February 29, when a group of seven, including the arrested suspects, stormed the hotel, restrained the victim, and demanded a ₦50 million ransom from his employer in Kano.
While the kidnappers initially secured a ₦1 million payment, the employer simultaneously alerted the police, triggering an immediate operation that led to the suspects’ arrest.
Lagos Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that crucial evidence was recovered, including a grey Toyota Camry, $2,000 in cash belonging to the victim, three ATM cards, a green card, a driver’s license, and an NIN slip.
“The police are actively tracking the remaining gang members who managed to escape,” Hundeyin stated.
With the hunt ongoing, authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling criminal networks in Lagos and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors alike
