Tinubu Ignores El-Rufai Attacks, Celebrates 65th Birthday
President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as he marks his 65th birthday, praising his contributions to democracy and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Sunday, Tinubu commended El-Rufai’s role in the formation of the APC and his service as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Governor of Kaduna State.
However, the president’s message made no mention of the lingering controversies surrounding El-Rufai, including his unconfirmed ministerial nomination in 2023 and allegations of financial mismanagement during his tenure as governor.
While many of his supporters see El-Rufai as a reformer and political strategist, critics argue that his tenure was marked by divisive policies and governance challenges.
Despite the controversies, Tinubu wished El-Rufai good health and strength for continued service to the nation, reaffirming their political alliance.
