A deadly armed robbery attack in Filin-Dabo village, Abuja, ended in a fierce gun battle as operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in collaboration with the military and local vigilantes, neutralized three notorious armed robbers.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the operation was triggered by a distress call received at 11:50 PM on Wednesday by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dei-Dei ‘A’ Division.
“Acting swiftly, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit mobilized alongside operatives from the 102 Battalion, Guards Brigade, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and local vigilantes.
“Upon arrival, the six-member gang attempted to escape into the bushes and launched an ambush on the security team. However, the operatives responded with superior firepower, engaging the criminals in a fierce shootout.
“Three suspects sustained fatal injuries and were confirmed dead at Kubwa General Hospital, while the remaining three are receiving medical treatment,” Adeh stated.
