In what can be described as a ‘deadly ambush, operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS), on Friday night at Dogon Dawa community in Mairiga Local Government Area of Niger State, successfully neutralized several terrorists.
The operation followed a well-coordinated ambush upon intelligence gathering by officers and men of the DSS that led to the death of several bandits while some narrowly escaped with bullet wounds.
Accordingly, the operatives of the DSS recovered three AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles from the fleeing bandits.
A security source, said that Friday’s ambush by the DSS was the result of weeks of intelligence gathering and the interception and analysis of communication by the bandits.
This was as Meridian Spy gathered that the operation was one of the several daring operations carried out by the DSS in the Northwest and Northeast which led to successful elimination and or capture of several bandits that have been terrorizing innocent citizens in the zones.
Information pieced together by Forefront News indicated that the DSS also led several successful operations against the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in the South-East.
Further checks indicated that the renewed intelligence gathering by the Secret police has greatly assisted the military and other security agencies in neutralizing or capturing several terrorists in many parts of the country.
according. Information by top security source said; “I can tell you that since the appointment of Mr Adeola Ajayi as Director General of the DSS by President Bola Tinubu, intelligence gathering and sharing with the military and other security agencies, have improved tremendously.
The source further said; “Intelligence gathering and sharing by the DSS with the military and other security agencies have greatly helped in reducing the number of ambushes on troops and other security personnel.
“It has also led to the decimation of IPOB elements in the South-East. The successes recorded by the DSS and the assistance they have been rendering to the military are qualitative and enormous,” the source said
