In a statement signed by the founder, Mrs Monsurah Abdullahi to commemorate today’s 2024 International Women’s Day.
While emphasiziing this year’s theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” Mrs. Abdullahi highlighted the transformative power witnessed by the organization when women are equipped with resources and opportunities.
She noted that empowering women become the architects of positive change in their communities, driving healthier families, better-educated children, and stronger economies.
Abdullahi highlighted the critical funding gap hindering women progress adding that government should allocate more funding dedicate sufficient resources to women and children’s well-being.
According to her, “Investing in women and children is not charity, it’s a strategic investment, empowered women participate more fully in the workforce, leading to economic growth. Children with access to quality education and healthcare become healthier, more productive citizens, contributing significantly to national development”.
Abdullahi outlined specific investment priorities as “Allocate sufficient budgets to initiatives that support women’s education, skills training, and access to micro funding, ensure quality healthcare services for mothers and children. Invest in child protection programs to safeguard our most vulnerable.”
“Let us not underestimate the power of a girl with an education, a woman with a voice, and a child with a healthy start in life. They are the building blocks of a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future,” Abdullahi noted.
“On International Women’s Day, I urge policymakers, community leaders, and all citizens to join the call to action. Let’s invest in women and children, not just today, but every day. Let us accelerate progress, together.”
