The All Progressive Congress (APC) has warmed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to protect the popular will of Kogi electorates.
The warning was made on Sunday via the press statement signed by the party’s national secretary, Felix Morka.
While reacting g to the call by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) that the electoral umpire should cancel all the votes from the central senatorial district of the state, Morka said with the candidate of his party, Usman Ahmed Ododo is coasting home to victory in the governorship election.
He then warned that the INEC should protect the integrity of votes of the electorates.
He added that the candidate of his party is maintaining landslide lead over his closest rival, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka of the SDP.
“We are keenly aware of intense pressure, including violent threats on INEC staff, by agents and supporters of trailing opposition parties, aimed at unduly influencing or disrupting ongoing collation of results in the state.
“We urge INEC to stand firm in discharge of its constitutional duty to deliver free, fair and credible election in the state, and ensure that the freely exercised will of the Kogi electorates prevails”, Morka submitted.
