The strategic appointments were officially announced through a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.
Among the five appointees is Mr. Fredrick Nwabufo, who assumes the role of Senior Special Assistant to the President for Public Engagement.
This appointment underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening its media engagement and public relations efforts.

Popularly known as “Mr. One-Nigeria,” Nwabufo brings an impressive array of skills to this important role, garnered from a career spanning over 15 years in journalism and communications across various media platforms.
A celebrated columnist, journalist, thought leader, communications strategist, and media consultant, Nwabufo is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Nwabufo’s journey to the current role was derived when he served as the Bureau Chief and Nation’s Capital Editor of TheCable, where he penned numerous influential and thought-provoking articles.
His dedication to crafting insightful articles was further exemplified by his role when he served as an active member of the Public Affairs Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) during the last general elections.
Nwabufo’s thought leadership extends well beyond the written word, as he consistently spearheaded discussions and provided insightful perspectives on various platforms, including Newsday on The BBC World News Service in London, AIT, Silverbird TV, TVC, ITV, and other esteemed media outlets.

Prior to his current appointment, Nwabufo held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Line & Link Media and The Link Consulting. He was also the publisher of TheLink News, an independent media organization with a focus on democratic governance, fostering development, advocating for good governance, and upholding the rights of citizens.
As a certified YALI Network leader, Nwabufo is highly regarded for his transformational approach to leadership and effective people-oriented management.
A significant milestone in Nwabufo’s career is his advocacy for a united Nigeria, which stems from his certification in conflict analysis from the United States Institute of Peace.
His commitment to Nigeria’s unity began in 2009 during his service year as a corps member in Ekiti state. This commitment led to the inception of the “One Nigeria” initiative in 2020, a campaign that earned him the moniker “Mr. OneNigeria.”
