The ministry of Youth and Sports development today hosted the Flying Eagles of Nigeria in the Nation’s capital,Abuja.
The Flying Eagles won a bronze medal at the just concluded U-20 AFCON in Egypt after defeating Tunisia in the third place match.
The minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare praised the young stars for their efforts and applauded them for winning bronze for the country.
He expressed delight with the team while urging the technical team to put in place tactics that would enable the team to score more goals.
Dare also promised to visit the team during their training and that the team would always get the necessary support.
His word: “I want to applaud the team for a good show in Egypt, I was in Egypt to watch you play and I must say the team played beautiful football”
“We play well but we also need to score goals to be able to win”
“I do not envy the technical crew but I believe they know what to do”.
The coach of the team, Ladan Bosso thanked the ministry for their support and promised for a better outing at the World Cup.
He added that the main target of the team is to be celebrated in the Villa after winning the World Cup in Indonesia.
“I have said it before, our main target is to be celebrated in the Villa after we win the World Cup”
“We will build up the team and work in areas that needs to be perfect ahead of the World Cup”.
It would also interest you to know that two players from the team; Njoku Augustine & Solomon Agbalaka were part of the team of the tournament.
The team also won the fair play award after an amazing outing in Egypt.
Nigeria is one of the twenty four teams that would be competing for glory at this year’s World Cup in Indonesia billed for May 20 – June 11, 2023.
