Katsina State Government has rewarded three youths in the state for their show of bravery in overpowering some bandits who had kidnapped them at their farm.
The youths which comprised two boys and a girl were said to have disarmed and killed one of the bandits in their attempt to free themselves from captivity.
At the presentation of a monetary reward issued to the youths on behalf of the state government on Tuesday, Sanusi Buba, the state Commissioner of Police, appreciated them not only for their display of courage in engaging the bandits but also for returning the AK 47 rifle and a matchet they recovered from their captors to the police.
The presentation of the reward to the youths was shielded from the public because of the safety of the youngsters.
Giving account of how the youths escaped, the Commissioner said, “The two bandits who were armed with AK 47 rifle and a matchet initially kidnapped the two young boys and the girl on the farmland. The trio now summed up the courage to tackle the bandits. While one engaged the one with a matched, the remaining two tackled the one with the AK 47 rifle.
“The one who handled the bandit with the matchet later subdued him and he joined the other two to tackle the other bandit with the rifle”.
The AK47 rifle and the matchet recovered from the bandits were also displayed by the commissioner during the occasion.
