The alumni association worldwide of University of Ibadan (UI) has further cleared doubt on the graduation of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki from the institution.
President of the institution’s alumni, Prof. Elsie Olufunke Adewoye, in a press statement, confirmed that Obaseki is a graduate of University of Ibadan where he Classics.
Prof Adewoye said the governor gained admission to the University in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.
She further revealed his matriculation number as “SI: 19512”, while disclosing that he was unanimously selected by the Alumni Association to deliver the 2018 Alumni lecture held on the 3rd of August, 2018.
The UI Alumni president further stated that only verifiable and accomplished alumnus of the institution is usually nominated yearly to deliver the Alumni Lecture and that Mr. Godwin N. Obaseki was well suited to deliver the lecture, given his towering achievements both in the private and public sector, stressing that he has positively projected the image of the university beyond boundaries.
MERIDIAN SPY reports Wednesday the institution’s registrar, Olubunmi Faluyi, in a press statement, confirmed the certificate of Obaseki, stating that records of his admission and graduation are intact in the archives of the University.
“Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State graduated from the University of Ibadan where he studied Classics,” said UI registrar.
“Obaseki gained admission to the University in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.
Shortly after the confirmation, Obaseki retweeted the story on the confirmation published by a medium with the comment, “posterity will always vindicate the just.”
