Lagos State government has announced the death of a coronavirus patient in the state.
In a post on Sunday by the state’s Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi via his verified twitter handle, the death involved a 36-year-old Nigerian male who died in a private facility on Saturday 4th of April, bringing the total number of fatalities in the state to two.
The health commissioner also disclosed that six new persons tested positive for the deadly pandemic while one other patient was evacuated from the country, bringing the number of evacuated to two.
Abayomi tweeted: “#COVID19Lagos Update as at 11.20a.m, 5th April, 2020.
“6 new cases of #COVID19 confirmed, bringing total confirmed cases to 115.
“A #COVID19 patient was discharged on 4th April, 2020. The number of #COVID19 patients who have fully recovered and discharged are now 24.
“We lost a #COVID19 patient ; a 36 year old Nigerian male who died in a private facility on 4th April, 2020. Total number of #COVID19 patients who have died are now 2.
“One case was evacuated bringing total evacuated to 2 Let’s #StaySafe#ForAGreaterLagos.”
This update comes hours after the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control NCDC announced on Sunday the death of a new coronavirus patient in the country.
NCDC tweeted: “As at 11:15 am 5th April there are 224 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Twenty-seven have been discharged with five deaths.”
