Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said Ikeja and Eti-Osa Local Government Areas recorded the highest number of infected cases of coronavirus in the state.
In a live broadcast at the State House, Marina, on Friday, the governor urged Lagosians to stay indoors if they have no reason to go outside. Adding that curfew may be imposed in the state to halt the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
Sanwo-olu stated: “If you don’t have any need to go outside, please stay inside. That’s rule number one. In Lagos, the local governments with the highest number of infections are Eti-Osa and Ikeja.
“We are moving to the direction of curfew, but there are indices and numbers we need to see, we haven’t seen that number yet to warrant a curfew.
“The disease is not a respecter of anybody. It doesn’t look at class, gender or race, everybody is at risk, that is why we need to obey the rules and regulations set for ourselves.”
According to Nigerian Centre for Disease Control NCDC, as at Friday, there are 65 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country. Lagos however tops the list of cases with 44, while Abuja and Ogun have 11 and 3 cases respectively.
