An emerging Education Support Group in West Africa, Back2School Africa, has taken its campaign for education advocacy for indigent pupils and students to classified rural areas in Lagos State.
The group whose mission is to reduce the rate of illiteracy among indigent families in West African by providing scholarships and funded education opportunities for kids born into the less privileged families, kicked –off it incipient activities in 2018 in Cross River State, Nigeria, where countless number of pupils and students were given free education opportunities and relative scholarships.
On 10th August, 2019, Araromi community in Ikeja Local Government Area in Lagos State, benefited from the group’s Education Intervention Project in rural communities tagged, “Secure the Future Project.”
Araromi is a suburb community that lies in the heart of Ojodu, a rural hinterland, in Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The community which benefited from the Education Intervention Project of the NGO had up to 40% of its children initially out of school, but the project saw a huge number of them being sent back to school as part of the project.
The group also made sure that a good number of students who were in school, but lacked school materials to facilitate their learning were provided with basic learning materials like exercise books, school bags, among others.
Free health care services were also provided to students and other indigent residents in area as part of a strategic partnership struck between the community health center and Back2School Africa during the programme.
The group which is led by Imo State born youth and students advocate, Mr. Anklin Amadi is committed to taking much more responsibility in ensuring that more indigent pupils and students who are currently out of school in different rural communities in West Africa are provided with school materials and sent back to school, amidst its firm belief that the future of the current Africa’s generation lies in the hands of these kids, and can only be safeguarded through quality education.
