Some sets of angry youths besieged the busy Benin-Lagos road in an unusual manner of protest and demonstration.
The youths who are residents of Uselu community in the Benin City were out to register their grievances over a fatal road-side accident where a BMW saloon car killed four women.
An eye-witness who spoke to our correspondent in Benin City said the car rammed into the victims while they were waiting to board a bus along the Benin-Lagos highway.
The development however precipitated tension in the area. The angry youths who stormed the scene of the incident razed the down the accident vehicle immediately.
The livid youths also shut down activities on the road for a couple of hours in demonstration of their displeasure over the incident. Some of the youths who spoke to our correspondent at the scene of the incident alleged that the police shot about three of their members, and whisked them away.
The Edo State Police Command has also confirmed the incident to MERIDIAN SPY. As a follow-up, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Adegbuyi also visited the accident scene to ascertain the level damages caused by the development and to as well quell the protest which was almost degenerating to a riot.
