The All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State have traded accusations over the disruption of an empowerment programme in the state.

The incident has generated fresh political tension, with the two parties giving conflicting accounts of what led to the disruption of the event.

The PDP accused the APC of being responsible for the incident, alleging that the disruption was politically motivated.

The opposition party condemned the development and called on security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.

The APC, however, rejected the allegations and instead accused the PDP of attempting to politicise the incident.

The ruling party maintained that the allegations against it were false and insisted that its members were not responsible for the disruption.

The disagreement has further highlighted growing political tension in Kwara State as politicians and political groups begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Both parties have continued to exchange accusations, with each side calling on the other to take responsibility for the events that unfolded.

The incident has also renewed concerns about political violence and the need for political actors to conduct their activities peacefully.

Security agencies are expected to investigate the matter and determine the circumstances surrounding the disruption of the empowerment programme.

The development comes as political activities gradually intensify across the country ahead of the 2027 elections.
